In addition to providing custodial and maintenance service for a large, national bank’s branches and ATM machines, the bank’s managing agents approached ABM Facility Services to help them develop a safety and quality inspection program to support their property management team.  Initially, ABM proposed our traditional Palm-Pilot based inspection system.  However, the cost of the hardware and monthly maintenance fees were more than the customer wished to spend.  ABM’s electronic services department went back to the drawing board and solved their needs by:

• Designing a customized inspection form that can be completed by hand
• Applying a scanning technology to read the inspection forms electronically via facsimile
• Dedicating a toll-free fax number for the receipt of completed inspection forms 
• Creating a web portal so the property managers could review reports on-line.

The customer named the utility the “SMART” system which stands for “Surveys Made Available Real Time”.  The system processes over 1500 site inspections per month.  The entire system was designed quickly and inexpensively with minimal ongoing administration costs.

ABM Facility Services now offers the SMART™ system as a value-added service assisting clients in increasing safety and quality, while reducing overall costs.
